Systems Engineering, Electrical & Avionics Team:
The team oversees everything relating to systems engineering, electrical & avionics on the aircraft. The team’s responsibilities include developing and representing the vehicle system architecture, managing requirements for the aircraft, developing and integrating electrics and avionics, flight test instrumentation, and systems safety.
The opportunity:
The role presents a unique opportunity to develop major electrical systems on the Airlander 10 air vehicle including: AC Power Generation, DC Power Conversion, AC and DC Power Distribution, large Brushless DC Motor Systems, Lightning Protection and other electrical sub-systems. This is a hands-on engineering role involving the development of a completely new airframe and input into the creation of a new Electrical team. What you will be doing:
With the Head of Systems Engineering, you will utilise your experience of working on the design and development of aircraft electrical systems, from producing the initial system specification all the way through to achieving Type Certification.
- Apply electrical system engineering practice: You will be central to the success of the programme by technically driving the programme to develop electrical power systems architecture including, AC and DC generation, distribution, power conversion, emergency power, etc. and electrical sub-systems.
- Provide technical management: Working closely with the Engineering team, and other departments within HAV Ltd, you will lead the design and technical management of key elements of the Company’s products and be the key interface with suppliers ensuring the end product meets the input specification.
- Provide technical liaison and support: Work with the Programmes team to provide input into Statements of Work and partner with the relevant Certification Authority, ensuring that all applicable EASA design and environmental requirements are met. Represent the company with certification agencies and where else required.
- People management: once the team expands, you will be responsible for not only building and guiding your team towards achieving organisational goals but also for ensuring their personal and professional growth and well-being.
Your skills and experience:
- Good education in engineering which may be by means of a degree-level qualification or HNC/HND-level qualification in engineering, plus experience in a relevant role or equivalents from the UK or other educational systems, or by suitable experience.
- Proven experience in the Aerospace industry with emphasis on electrical power systems.
- Ability to prepare clear and accurate technical documentation in plain English.
- Exposure to processes across the product ARP4754 lifecycle from concept through to production.
- An awareness of CAA/EASA/FAA certification procedures and operational rules.
- Ideally, you will have experience in, or desire for, building, leading, developing and nurturing a high-performing team. This role demands a passion for fostering a supportive and collaborative environment where each team member feels valued and empowered.
Whilst producing 2D and 3D designs for electrical wiring diagrams or cable harness installations drawings are not an essential requirement, we will consider applicants with these added skills.

Our first production aircraft, Airlander 10, will deliver up to a 90% reduction in emissions compared to other aircraft in its various roles, before attaining zero emissions by 2030.
